Complete the look on your brand's website: how it works
"Complete the look" means showing a shopper the other pieces that make an outfit with the one they're looking at: the trousers, shoes and accessories that go with a jacket, all buyable together.
It works because people buy outfits, not items. When the rest of the look is already on screen, adding it is one tap instead of another search.
Three ways to offer complete the look
Brands usually start with one of these, and many combine them.
- Styled shoots: your team styles looks for campaign or lookbook photos and links each piece. Beautiful, but fixed, and the looks go stale as stock sells out.
- Manual product links: someone picks related pieces for each product in your store admin. Precise, but slow to maintain across a full collection.
- An AI stylist: looks are built on demand from your catalogue, for the piece or occasion the shopper asked about. It covers every product without manual work.
What makes a look actually complete
A good look has a top and a bottom, or a dress or set in their place. Then it adds what finishes an outfit: outerwear when it fits, footwear, and one or two accessories like a bag, a cap or a belt. Four to six pieces is a finished look.
Pieces should hold one register: colours that work together, one level of formality, and a shape that balances, like an oversized top over a slimmer bottom. And every piece should be in stock.
How Pleatora builds complete looks
Pleatora reads your catalogue, including each piece's photo, so it knows what every piece looks like, not just its name. When a shopper asks for something, it gathers suitable pieces for each part of an outfit, styles them into looks, and shows each look as a clean flatlay with one total.
Shoppers can keep a piece and ask to swap the rest, or ask for something completely different. Every piece links straight to its product page on your site.
Adding it to your site
Pleatora is one line of code pasted into your site's theme, with no apps to configure and no product data to tag by hand. It works on Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and custom sites. The install guide shows exactly where the line goes on each platform.
Questions
Is complete the look the same as shop the look?
They overlap. Shop the look usually links pieces from one styled photo. Complete the look starts from the piece a shopper is viewing and builds the rest of the outfit around it.
What happens when I add new pieces?
With hand-picked links, someone has to link every new piece by hand. Pleatora picks up new pieces when your catalogue syncs and styles them like everything else.
