AI stylist and outfit tools for fashion brands, compared

Fashion brands have more ways than ever to help shoppers build outfits on their own websites. The tools fall into three groups: enterprise outfit engines, recommendation and search platforms, and conversational AI stylists.

This overview is based on each company's public website, checked in October 2026. Pleatora is our product, so we've stuck to what each tool says about itself.

Enterprise outfit engines

These place complete-the-look and outfit modules on product pages for large retailers. They're powerful, sold through demos with contact-sales pricing, and built for teams with merchandisers to manage them.

  • Stylitics: automated outfits and bundles in formats like Shop the Look and Outfit Builder, with rules merchandisers can review. Used by large department stores.
  • Dressipi: product tagging plus personalised product and outfit recommendations for fashion retailers.
  • Syte: visual search and Shop the Look from product photos, plus recommendations and auto-tagging.
  • Vue.ai: known for fashion styling and complete the look, now positioned as a wider enterprise AI platform across industries.

Recommendation and search platforms

These help shoppers find and add products, through better search, recommendation widgets, bundles and upsells. Some are adding conversational search, but they recommend products rather than style outfits.

  • Shopify Search & Discovery: Shopify's free app for related and complementary products on product pages.
  • Rebuy: upsell, cross-sell, smart cart and bundles for Shopify brands.
  • Nosto: search, merchandising, recommendations and more as a modular platform.
  • Athos Commerce, formerly Klevu: AI search, merchandising and recommendations, with a conversational assistant add-on.

Conversational AI stylists

This is the newest group: shoppers ask in their own words and get styled answers from the brand's catalogue. A few Shopify apps now offer an AI stylist chat.

Pleatora is in this group. Shoppers ask for a piece, an occasion or a vibe, and Pleatora answers with pieces from your catalogue styled into complete looks, each shown as a flatlay with one total and every piece one tap from its product page. It installs with one script tag, so it works on Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, BigCommerce and custom sites alike.

How to choose

  • If you're a large retailer with a merchandising team and want outfit modules on every product page, look at the enterprise outfit engines.
  • If your main problem is search or upsells, a recommendation and search platform fits.
  • If you're a D2C brand that wants shoppers to ask for what they want and see complete looks from your collection, without a long integration, try a conversational AI stylist.

Questions

What's the difference between an AI stylist and product recommendations?

Product recommendations suggest single items, often similar ones. An AI stylist answers what a shopper asks and builds complete outfits from pieces that go together. See what is an AI stylist.

Which tools work outside Shopify?

Enterprise platforms usually integrate with several commerce platforms through feeds or APIs. Pleatora works on any site with one script tag. Many smaller tools are Shopify-only apps.
